Emmet And Grockle Please!

I STILL BLOG. I PROMISE. KINDA.

Although, I am no longer blogging on this website. This website is a super wonderful place to familiarize yourself with my journalistic work and résumé. You can find links to all of my social media accounts. You can even read a quaint little section called “About Me,” which I’m sure is nauseating and full of superfluous descriptions. You will find clips and links to clips and my downloadable resume. But you will not find my blog. For that, you’ll have to head over to my Tumblr (convenient link found at the bottom of my homepage) – Emmet And Grockle.

Emmet and Grockle started out as a travel blog that I came up with while studying abroad in Europe for a year but has steadily transitioned into my one and only blogging platform. It’s a personal blog, so if you are looking for professional clips, that’s not the place to be. But, if you are looking for a sneak peek into the mind of Emily Cegielski, then, by all means, get your Emmet and Grockle on!

If you’ve read this far, you are probably wondering what Emmet and Grockle means and/or why is it the name of my blog. Well, I’ve answered this question before on Tumblr, but I will save you the trouble of scrolling through pages of past posts.

Basically, they are deprecatory British slang words for tourists. The name was appropriate when I was living abroad, and I think I posted something about proving not all tourists are bad (which is the basic premise behind the slang). Regardless, I formed a strange attachment to the blog name, so I don’t plan on changing it… just maybe interpreting the meaning a bit differently.

Emmet and Grockle – a Mississippi girl taking on the bright lights of New York and dealing with all the “emmet and grockles” that infiltrate the city, while proving that she herself is not one. Yep, let’s just go with that.
